Ministry Update December 2020

Ministry Update Nov/Dec 2020: Exciting things are happening at Faith N Hope International Ministry. After spending the past year praying, building, strategizing, and planning, we are at Pilot Phase One.

Merry Christmas from Gimcheon, South Korea.

We (Soo and Sophia) had a blessed time with children residing at Immanuel Children Home (one of our PEERS model partners). Faith N Hope hosted a Christmas celebration for children and staff at Immanuel. It was time fun time of sharing, handing out gifts, and for these children to hear from our champions that they are loved. We thank Ms. Shin for taking the time to send a message of hope amid her busy filming schedule. We thank Julie and Kevin, and other board members for providing resources and sending the message of love to put this celebration. Children appreciated and loved hearing from you, though via video.

Christmas greetings to chidren and staff at Immanuel

What is the PEERS model and how many orphanages will be involved during Pilot Phase One?

We have identified and vetted 3 orphanages and impacting 32 children and we are collaborating to implement our P.E.E.R.S. program, which stands for Placement, Experience, Education, Relationship, and Spirituality. Our ultimate goal is to guide orphans towards meaningful career PLACEMENT. We want them to be best equipped, trained, and able to sustain, enrich, and be a blessing to others. This cannot happen magically. It requires well-designed EXPERIERIENTIAL internships where their EDUCATION is augmented by real-life internships prior to starting their first career. Our educational content and delivery platform rely on technology, but we value the real human touch. That is why we are carefully vetting educational facilitators (aka missionaries) who will laugh, cry, encourage, and teach these precious children, whether in Korea, Thailand, or other distant places. We also know that we do not grow in an isolated setting.

Another critical component of our model is the RELATIONAL capacity, as it serves as a fundamental building block to who we are. This is where the roles of our champions and volunteers are so critical. We need Christians and churches to serve as guides, coaches, and mentors to orphans. All of our work and our model is void without SPIRITUAL awakening, redemptive work, and salvation through Jesus Christ. Our model is grounded in the love of Christ for these orphans and ensuring their walk with the Lord becomes the number one building block and a cornerstone of our PEERS model.

What are our timeline and current progress?

Pilot Phase One is our demarcation line.  Soo and Sophia (one of our wonderful board members) are in Korea to oversee and serve during this critical juncture. We are excited that we were able to host the 2020 Christmas celebration with 78 children. We are also thankful that even amid travel restrictions and a housing shortage, we secured a three-bedroom apartment near the orphanage in Gimcheon, South Korea. Three bedrooms will allow us to provide housing to our missionaries and volunteers. We will be selecting missionaries to join us shortly. We are also praying that God would allow us to secure additional housing near Incheon (the site of a second Korean orphanage) and Chang Mai, Thailand, where Mango House is located. Phase Two will kick off by adding more orphanages into our system based on what we learn from Phase One. We plan to wrap up Phases One and Two by the end of 2021, with a full-scale launch in 2022. Through the generosity of our friends, family, and board members, we have the resources to complete Phase One and move rapidly into Phase Two.

How are we funded?

A generous donor funds the ministry's operational and ancillary costs. The result when others donate to the ministry, that fund is allocated for the program that impacts orphans directly. We are so thankful and amazed by what God is doing to have many supporters and champions for Faith N Hope. 100% of donors' financial support directly impacts orphans through our program.  "for where your treasure is, there your heart will also be" (Matthew 6:21).

How can you help? Prayer requests:

1.   Pray that God would steer Christians' hearts and bring more champions, advocates, mentors, and churches to journey with us in this endeavor.

2.   Pray that God would soften the hearts and minds of the orphans we have selected to be part of Pilot Phase One.

3.   Pray for everyone involved with our ministry, especially those in the country—for everyone's health, safety, and physical well-being.

4.Pray that orphans' lives would be changed forever and that permanent healing would occur
