 I dropped Soo off at the Denver International Airport, about the same time yesterday as she was headed to Korea. After a layover in SFO and a lengthy coronavirus screening at the Incheon International Airport, she is finally at her hotel, Ramada Inn. The hotel is where the Korean government quarantines those entering South Korea for 14 days. So why did Soo make this journey knowing that she will be going through strict screening, testing, and then be quarantined for 14 days before given the freedom to meet and go to places she needed? It was to continue Faith n Hope International Ministry’s work and ensure we are ready to launch our phase one pilot project. Though the initial plan, before the worldwide pandemic, was to launch Pilot Project 1 in Chang Mai, Thailand, due to a more restrictive travel ban from the U.S., we decided to launch phase 1 in Korea. We are monitoring the travel restriction situation in Thailand. However, we are still praying that we can move forward with the Chang Mai, Thailand project end of this year or early next year.

 Though Soo will spend the next 13 nights at her designated hotel, she will coordinate logistics and prepare for post quarantine “on the ground” meetings. She will be visiting two orphanages, including one we have a relationship through previous visits. The aim is to coordinate logistics, program expectation/intended outcome, and meet children who will be part of the Phase 1 pilot of our PEERS model. She will also meet and interview potential collaborators and partners as well as interview facilitators/missionaries who will pour out the love of Christ to these children. A key to fulfilling our goal to “help orphans heal, grow, develop, and be equipped to assume meaningful roles in society” requires a collective effort of like-minded individuals, families, churches, and other Christian ministries. As a team and through collaboration with a cohesive strategy, we can accomplish greater outcomes and provide a life-altering path for these children’s future. We are excited that God has allowed our ministry to be filled with individuals and families passionate about fulfilling God’s command to care for the orphans.

I ask that you pray for:

  • Health and safety during Soo’s trip/journey and for our Lord to provide clarity as she spends the next number of days planning;

  • Pray that God will allow Soo to meet the right people/organization and their hearts will be open to orphan ministry;

  • Pray that all of the logistics and programming components for Pilot Phase 1 will go as planned and according to God’s will;

  • Pray that data/information gathered from Phase 1 will lead our ministry to better prepare for Phase 2 during Spring of 2021 and, ultimately, full-scale launch;

  • Pray that lives touched through Faith N Hope International Ministry will experience the love of Christ, be secure in their salvation, and through our program and mentorship, they will be fully equipped to launch into adulthood.

 We thank you for your prayers and support, as we cannot do this alone.
